Poetry

Gently now.
Gently.
Do not crush the flowers.

Bloom where you are planted.
Remember once a flower is cut, it is archived and fades.
A sweet memory yet the bloom is lost.

Gently now.
Gently.
Do not crush the flowers.

Streams in the Desert

Streams in the Desert
© 2023 Debbie Turner Chavers

I wanted you
to be pretty
But you were not

You were all hard edges
and broken pieces
Covered in shame
Voicing blame

I approached you
Tentatively
Extending a cup of Living Water

You gasped
Drinking deeply
As a desert long since dry.

You began to bloom
A cactus released
Prickles still
Yet flowers began to bloom

Your beauty hidden
Now released in the Son.

Poetry- A New Day

Grief is not black.
It is the color of every memory,
of every time and space spent with you.
A kaleidoscope of negatives
and positives that turn daily.
Never forgotten, yet shades of change
as each new day rises.

Poetry: Spun Free

I ran across the field
Rejoicing in the light
As all the spiders took flight
Caught on the wind
webs tendriled and pulled
the spiders to earth again
Whilst I gathered dreams
And spun with delight

Silent

The Earth Sings in Flowers

Leaves have fallen
and fertilized hope
The winter of joy is gone
Behold, a new day
Spring has sprung,
the earth sings in flowers.

Revive

LORD

Revive us

Turn these stones

Water worn

by tears

Create new hearts

Sealed and set

In One Hope

Revive, O LORD

the love of thy people.

Poetry, Prayers, and Encouragement

Man of Many Colors

Redemption
A word
A man of colors
His beaten body
The color of every man

Shredded and torn
A bowed head
Crowned with thorns

No man was ever as this man
Unique
The only begotten Son of God

Redemption has a name
and it is
Jesus Christ, the Messiah.

LOVED

There is a love
Deeper than the ocean
Where you may drown
Yet be born again
Where the Holy Air you receive
Is blown over and into you
killing the old you,
yet birthing a new life within
Where reaching bottom
Is not obtainable
For His love is and always will be
without measure.
3-13-19

KNOWN

Christ's blood redeemed
and covered her
Each sin and shame atoned for.

Even as her mouth declared
I made a mistake
My sins are many
I was wrong.

Do you still love me?
Yes,Christ replied,
You are my lovely Bride.
Though your sins be as scarlet,
They shall be white as snow.
10-19-18

The Wind

The Wind is free
And I a song bird in colors bold
Flying swiftly, catching each faint breeze
Gathering at times, scattering at times
Bearing precious seed
Fly faithful ones
The Wind doth call to thee.
2-20-19

Resurrection

Laughter was heard
The stone rolled away
A crown of thorns laid aside
Beside the puddles of blood
Whereby an abyss
of lost souls had been set free.
Even now the blood of Christ
calls for thee.
9-8-18

Of Salt and Light

A walk on the beach
The sound of gulls
Waves lapping
The pungent taste
Of briny air upon your lips
Bits and pieces
Gathered
Memories stored
Of joy released
And visited anew.

Breath of Life

There is a love
Deeper than the ocean
Where you may drown
Yet be born again
Where the Holy Air you receive
Is blown over and into you
Killing the old you,
Yet birthing a new life within
Where reaching bottom
Is not obtainable
For His love is and always will be
Without measure.

Sown

May the seeds of righteousness
be dispersed by God.
Planted in fertile soil
and watered by His Word.
Bloom where you are planted
As you are carried by the wind of His Spirit.
3-11-19

Deliverance

Sometimes Holy Ghost boldness
Breaks forth like fireworks
With beautiful colors
and piercing light
in the darkness of spiritual night.
Wait upon the Lord.
11-24-18

Invited

Every man is invited
Go and tell
For you Christ has died
And rose again.
Beautifully Redeemed
Receive the gift of salvation
Today
1-30-19

Prayer

Father God, grant justice to those who have been wronged.
May the cry of the unborn be the joyous laugh of a precious new life
received and welcomed into this world.
In Jesus name.
Amen
Psalm 34:15
3-27-19

Everyone

EVERY child that is not allowed to be born
Is an aborted purpose that was meant to bless mankind.
God does not make mistakes
Every life matters.
Psalm 139
1-25-19

The Way

Love made a Way.
His name is Jesus Christ.
Sorrow no more.
The King of Glory has risen.
We are redeemed.
Set Free from every prison.
Salvation
Salvation granted to all who would call upon His name.
He who is risen from the grave.
The Messiah, Jesus Christ.
3-12-19

Beauty

Beauty within
only fades as we walk away
from the Light of Christ
that is within us.

Stay the course.
There is light just ahead.
12-20-18

The End of the Matter

If we kneel
Yet in our hearts
We stand
Standing against the call of His Spirit
We shall fall.
Every knee shall bow
To He who sits on the throne.
And every tongue shall confess to God.
2-21-19

Repentance

The boat abandoned
Yet seaworthy still
A patch to the hull
Made from a tree
Splintered and rough
From Calvary's tree.
12-21-18

As Seen

"Beauty" she said,
I see nothing but beauty.
Amongst the dead.
Evergreen
Growing still
Those who have risen
beyond their own reasoning
And have believed the words which
Christ has said.

The darkness came
Yet, the Light Arose
9-28-18

Youth

She with the golden skin
Bejeweled
Bedazzled
She was blind to our faults
Wrapped her wild hair
In the kindness of others
As we gazed at her from afar.
9-28-18

The Science of Art

A mass of corpuscles
Collide amongst the ebb and
Flow of tendons and muscles
Under the microscope of
Artistic sight.
5-26-18

Silent the drift came in
Rosy red
Parting the atmosphere
Shadowed yet concrete
The imagery appeared
6-12-18

Never Alone

Love is colorless
Yet God has made a rainbow of people,
The rainbows end,
the treasure found,
Culminating in His Son,
Jesus Christ.

Someday.
Possibly today.
You will look and see,
That you were
NEVER alone.
5-23-18

Prayer - Thank You

Father as the day ends
Thank you for the gift of this day.
Thank you for kindness given
and kindness received.
Thank you for joy and for your peace.
As we lay our burdens down and lay at your feet
May our sleep give refreshment as we rise
With the new mercy given for tomorrow.
In Jesus name.
Amen
5-13-19

Prayer of Blessing

As the sun rises on this new day given.
May your joy double and your wisdom increase.
In Jesus name.
Amen
12-5-18

Poem: Love

© 2016 Debbie Turner Chavers

Love has no color
Love is liquid as Living Waters
flowing from the midst of us

Love is pneuma
That encloses and infuses
Our breathe and prayers

Love came to us
For us
Enclosed and birthed us

He the Living Word of God
Who sings over us
Stands us firmly as He slays the opposition
against us and call us beloved.

We are His
He is ours
Rejoice with me

Praise His Holy Name.
Father, Son, And Holy Spirit
Our God, Three in One.

Poem: Marriage Through the Years

I wrote this poem for my husband, Timothy. We have been together 40 years. Married for 39 years.
So many hard days and happy days. Without God there would have never have been a marriage.
Without God we would be nothing and have nothing.
Only God can help two diverse people become one.
It is a difficult process, yet so worth the trouble. I pray that when you think it is over and you feel misunderstood that you will ask God for His peace that passes all understanding and His wisdom to guide your choices. There were so many times one or both of us wanted to quit.
To take our flesh and our feelings and leave. Yet each time over the years God would grant us the grace to forgive one another and grant another layer of maturity to cover our human failures.
I want to encourage you that there is a ripening of young love that can astonish you with its beauty if you will nuture it in God's presence.

~Debbie

Marriage Through the Years

The path lies before us. A gentle curve to the right, into the distance.
Where will we go from here?

We wandered, this boy man and I, over rocks
and through thickets of emotional splendor.

Leafy limbed we grabbed each branch
and swung with wild abandon.

Our youthful lust driving us ever onward.
A pulsating staccato beat that demanded more.
Always more.

Single file we had walked a narrow path together,
yet separate.

As we aged, the path opened and fingers twined,
kisses taken at the edge of loves grapevine.

We drank deeply and held one another
as we looked for the horizon.

Mountains behind us, hills ahead.
Whispered directions as we joined heads.

For two are better than one
as God has said.

The path lies before us, a gentle curve to the right into the distance.
Where will we go from here?

Matthew 19 :4-6
And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,
And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

Genesis 2:22-25
And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. And they both were naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

Poetry: Shoes of Peace

© 2004 Debbie Turner Chavers
Amos 3:3

Shoes of Peace

Following the Worthy One
In shoes of peace

The road ahead is broad
Where nary a soul one meets
Who hasn't heard of the sorrow
led by weary, laden, rebellious feet

Where Christ is calling
Your baggage can be carted
on the broad way,
but must be dumped
to walk the narrow path

To take hold of a life worth living
To yield a furrowed field
and all your plans askew
To journey an adventure
where His mercy is ever new

But ..
the path is narrow
Where my Savior tarried and made the Way
Two can go together,
yet One must hold the other

Hands held and followed close
Eyes fixed on the horizon

The path..
Where mercy flowed
Where weary travelers left their load

Discarded their stains and woe
Following Christ and..
Away they go

Crescendo

Water-Man series

We rise
Every eye upon the Worthy One
Attentive to His direction
Ready to begin...
And the crescendo begins

Let no false note be played
No harmony erased
Let us come together
To praise the worthy One

All can come
Christ Jesus is the Way
Do not tarry
Take your place

A chorus of salvation
In one accord
Each instrument tuned
And played
To the Master's plan

With hands raised high
The rain of His Spirit falls
upon tongues raised in praise
To God who reigns eternally

Worthy
Worthy
Is the Lamb of God

Let every tongue confess
Worthy
Worthy
Is the Lamb of God

~Debbie Turner Chavers

Poem: Relationship With a Fickle Heart

Water-Man Series

Relationship with a Fickle Heart

There was a time
when I said
I love you
BUT
I changed my mind

I admired your
everything
with rose colored glasses
BUT
you changed my mind

I gathered your experiences
of time and place
BUT
forgot about mine.

I awoke with ..
a fresh start
and gathered my time
BUT
I changed my mind.

~Debbie Turner Chavers

Loved by Faithful Jehovah God

The love of the Father is not like this poem of fickle affections.
Human love..changes..at times constantly.
God is not fickle, but faithful.
A love given that builds not borrows, gives not takes.
Embraced, but free to go.
You are LOVED by He who will not lie and has told you so.

~Debbie

Jeremiah 31:3 The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee.

1 Samuel 15:29  And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent.

If you desire to have a firm foundation of steadfast love. Call upon the LORD. Ask Him into your heart and into your everyday life. Click here to read and say a quick prayer to invite Him into your heart.

9 Minutes of Contemplation

I wrote this in July as I pondered a few thoughts..probably for about 9 minutes. Did you know that your snooze button alarms usually every 9 minutes?

© 2005 Debbie Turner Chavers

9 Minutes of Contemplation

I am not the best I can be,
nor will I ever
on this earth
be the best I can be.
I am not stagnant, nor am I finished.

I am in the process of  becoming...
tuning in to my place in Christ,
avoiding chords of discord,
attempting to be at peace with all
as much as is possible with me

I am not the top,
nor the bottom person.
But a whole person,
a redeemed person.
Not a recycled or a nearly new person.

A new creation, with all the best that He is and has given me.
Beautifully fashioned and all glorious within
Because the treasure that He is ...
Is within me, gushing forth in a new song, a new language, and a new love

And yet I am not the best that I can be,
until it is Christ Jesus that you see
revealed in me.

~Debbie Turner Chavers

Psalm 45:13 The king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold.

Psalm 40:3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

Isaiah 28:11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

John 15:9  As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

John 1:14

With all of His heart
He held you
His arms spread wide and pierced
He held you inside
With a knowing of what was required
He laid down His will
to gather you still
From a world of chaos
And pain
He whispers your name
Come unto me
you who are weary and heavy laden
I will give you rest
With all of my heart
I spread my arms opened wide and pierced
To give you eternity and all that is best

There Is Always a Place For You

© 2010 Debbie Turner Chavers
Luke 15:11-32

This morning as I was thinking about Gods great love for you and I, this is what came to my heart.  We all at times have been or are currently a prodigal. God is the Father and God has provided all that His children need. God longs for you with an everlasting love.
Luke 13:31 And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.
Jeremiah 31:3  The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying,Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee.
Isaiah 44:22  I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me, for I have redeemed thee.
Isaiah 45:6  That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me.  I am the LORD, and there is none else.

Always A Place For You

There is and always will be a place for you.
In my arms
In my heart
In my fields
At my table

Poem "Ye Must Be Born Again"

Water-Man Series
John 3

Recently, I read a talented persons poetry of angst and despair, of gloom and doom. Sad enough to raise your hair. The poem below is for all..but you dear one in particular. The Lord sees every tear, every hair of your head is numbered. Your were created in the dark places yet birthed into light.
Your destiny has been sealed and set before you. Open the door, He stands waiting and knocking.

For He Loves You Completely with His Whole Heart
~Debbie

Ye Must Be Born Again

Oh! I love a happy ending from death to life
But you have recorded a witness of life unto death.

It is not that it should not be told, your witness of old
Nor that you should not be bold, as your heart and thoughts unfold.

The story written as you fling the arrows of your heart
In sorrow of your perceived demise of love that is true

But there is a lover who loves you true and victoriously waits for you
Drop your battered guard and open the door and give Him your all

For out of your darkest dark
He calls you into His perfect light.

As I read your heart cry...I reply
The words of Jesus Christ, a mighty Warrior and the Savior

(Luke 8:52 And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth.)

She was the kind of found that had a soul craving
For a new beginning that only He could create.

The kind that had driven herself useless in the art of life
Yet wanted to be framed as He had painted her.

Soft and yielding, colors unexplored,
Redeemed, restored yet better than before.

A canvas painted and signed,
Chosen for eternity.

And so she dropped her "No trespassing" sign
And invited Him in.

To become beautifully beautiful,
without and within
She chose,
Born Again
